Northern Luzon, Philippines. I acquired this spear from an aged Kalinga-tribe warrior who said it was taken on several head-hunting forays but never killed a local. However he stated he inherited it from his father who HAD killed a Japanese soldier with it in an ambush during the Second World War. 61" long with a characteristic and secure blade of iron set in a tough and hard shaft having carved and rattan decoration below the blade and a nice iron ferrule at the base. Excellent condition throughout, and early 20th C. making.
