Treat 'Em Rough (Lot of 2) 19 1/4 x 14 Treat 'Em Rough
Treat 'Em Rough (Lot of 2) 19 1/4" x 14" Artist: Angiet Hutaf. Printed for the United States Tank Corps. A very scarce and popular poster! Very few posters were printed for the famous Army Tank Corps, and this one is by far the most desirable. The picture of the black cat leaping over a pile of tanks as flames rage overhead is a fantastic image. The first member of the Tank Corps was none other than General George S. Patton. He took full control of the Tank Corps and organized everything from their maneuvers to their uniforms. He scored the first tank victory at Cambria, France, which placed the Tank Corps on the map. Patton believed that tanks were the future of ground combat and he petitioned the government many times for more funds, to no avail and the Tank Corps was abolished in 1920. Despite this setback Patton continued to work on tank improvements, believing fully in their usefulness in warfare; he conducted numerous experiments and trials to improve radio communication between tanks and he even developed the co-axial mount for the cannons and machine guns on a tank. The cat pictured here is the famous mascot of the Tank Corps, "Black Tom." Tom is shown here being very ferocious and agressive, do not miss this amazing poster, printed for one of the most famous and memorable units of WWI. <r<r Condition-Poster 1-Good; minor tear on top edge, upper and lower right corners have small pieces missing, adhesive damage on top edge, tape is gone but the paper is transparent from the plasticizers separating from the support. <r<r Poster 2-Superior; impeccable!!
