NANKO TEMPLE KOBE, a hand-coloured albumen print with pencil annotation on verso as follows, "This is the principal temple in Kobe, as it is the largest. There is a large open space, part of which is shown in the picture, used on festival occasions. There is room for thousands of merry-makers. Though situated at the extreme west of the town, the hills can still be seen in the background." Matted and framed.
