Transitional rapier to small sword circa late 17th to early 18th century probably German or central European with heavy cast brass and gold washed hilt with copper wire wrapped original grip. The blade is nicely formed and shaped with decorative cut work on the back portion and the sword is finely balanced for fencing and use in duels. The sword is 40 ½” overall and the blade is 34” showing slight reduction in length. The condition is verygood plus with some light pitting on the blade and hilt shows considerable gold color going to a natural patina with the copper wire wrapped grip in fine to near excellent condition showing a dark patina. A very nicesword every way. Est.: $700-$1,400.
