Transition  Kentucky  to Plains Rifle.
Unmarked, full stock. Collected by Larry Shelton prominent expert and author in the California gold rush area of Northern California. Larry pursued this type rifle 50 years and likely bought this rifle from a pioneer family, which was his habit. The rifle measures 38 1/2" overall with 43" octagon barrel of standard weight and about 42-46 cal rifled. Good to very good overall condition with natural patina and minor pitting and erosion at breech area. The wood is very good with minor imperfections, light near and normal use. Silver escutcheons with one small silver inlay at cheekpiece. Oval brass patchbox with brass plain mounts. Lock not holding on full cock. An "as found" out of the attic appearance.
