Featuring a 10 inch plate with the picture of Johnny Clem as a young Union Soldier. Also a reproduction copy of the original death certificate. Johnny Clem was born Aug 13, 1851. Date of death was May, 1937. Death certificate shows he passed away of heart problems. Johnny Clem was stated to be only 14 years old when he joined the Union Army. The plate is blue transferware. The back of the plate is also in blue and it states: Newark, Ohio proudley claims Johnny Clem-The Drummer Boy of Shiloh-as a favorite son. Born Aug 13, 1851, John Winton Clem lived in fame as the Union Army's youngest recruit. He served heroically through the war between the states and remained in the service to attain the rank of General. His familiar face will add lustra to this Newark Sesquicentennial Souvenir. Kettlesprings Kilns-R.D. 2 - Alliance, Ohio. There is a hairline crack on the front of the plate along the right side of his face but does not go through the plate to the back. Also a hairline crack noticable on the back of the plate just under the Alliance, Ohio. A wonderful collector's plate along with a reproduction of a copy of his death certificate.
