Transferable Late Production U.S. Army Contract Fully Automatic M2 Inland Carbine with ATF Registr
This is an excellent example of a very late WWII US Army contract M2 carbine produced by the Inland Division of General Motors. This specific carbine falls into the very late serial number range produced at the very end of WWII, where they were hand stamping the M1 or M2 markings on the front receiver ring. In this case the "2" has been heavily stamped on top of the "1" and the class III paper work that accompanies this carbine identifies it as a fully automatic M1-M2 model. It has the standard receiver markings and the barrel is stamped "INLAND MFG. DIV/GENERAL MOTORS/3-45". It has the correct late war features such as the adjustable rear sight, type three barrel band, very late production M2 trigger housing with the upside down "INLAND" marking on the right side. The Inland subcontract bolt is marked "AOB" on the lug and "H" on the left side. The hammer is marked "IN" and it has the late "E.I." marked flip safety lever and the late M2 style magazine catch with the underlined "M" mark. This carbine has the late four rivet hand guard that is marked with "IO" on the underside and a late "M2" pot belly style walnut stock with a restamped cross-cannon cartouche on the left side with a single restamped circle "P" proof in the pistol grip area with a small "IO" proof inside the operating slide channel and with the three small letters "ASA" stamped next to the barrel channel under the hand guard. It is complete with one 20 round blued "IS" marked magazine and a GI green canvas sling.
BBL: 18 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30 Carbine
Finish: parkerized
Grips:
Serial Number: 6947138

Excellent overall with 95% of a late GI green parkerized finish overall with light wear on the edges and high spots with thinning and finish loss on the receiver side rail and top of the bolt from limited firing and use. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition showing minor handling marks with a couple of minor pressure dents in the pistol grip area. As noted above this carbine is a fully automatic M2 model that is fully transferable with the proper ATF tax stamp. Class III weapon.
