This iron hoe blade is a frontier trade item from French trappers. A dig-up tool with the handle gone missing. The construction is high carbon steel forged and welded with the seams still visible. 8 in. overall length. A rare find c. 1700's. From the Bracken collection. Likely found in the river bed of the Arkansas River in Kay County, Oklahoma while looking for points. (ref.
