Original exhibition poster for Toshiko Takaezu: Ceramic Forms, held at First National Bank, Belleville, Illinois from April 10 to May 13, 1983. The design features a monochromatic photographic image of one of Takaezu's iconic closed-form ceramic vessels. Toshiko Takaezu was an American ceramic artist and painter known for her closed, sculptural ceramic forms that emphasize inner space and silence. Born in Hawaii to Japanese immigrants, Takaezu studied at the University of Hawaii and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work was influenced by both Eastern and Western traditions, blending Japanese aesthetics with modernist abstraction. She taught at Princeton University and has works in major museum collections including the Smithsonian and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The poster is signed Toshiko Takaezu in black ink.
