<B>Toronto, UC- The Farmer's Joint Stock Banking Company</B></I> $1 Feb. 1, 1849 Ch. # 280-14-02-02<BR> The first of three notes from this bank's Green Bay, Wisconsin issue of 1849. By that date this institution's stock had been sold to promoters who turned it into a classic wildcat bank, with the objective of circulating as many notes as possible, especially in the United States. Word soon spread concerning the unwillingness of the bank to redeem its notes in the Toronto and Buffalo areas, but the bank's Green Bay branch notes continued to be issued until the bank collapsed a few years later. These bi-country notes are quite scarce, and sought after by collectors from both Canada and the United States. <B>Extremely Fine.</B></I><BR><I>From The Thomas M.
