Fantastic! The second issued stock for this company, found in the Homestake hoard. Dave Shaddrick notes that this mine encountered a fabulously rich stope that produced 1 million ounces of gold, likely while it was under control by Homestake. Inc. in Dakota. No. 2, issued for 5,000 shares to Andrew Hanson in Lead City, Feb. 25th, 1887. Signed by Seth Bullock as president and Ernest May as secretary. Pencil cancelled, but not through signatures. Clipped left edge. 4.5 x 7.5" Seth Bullock was the first sheriff of Deadwood and ran a hardware store. He arrived in Deadwood the day before Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed. Bullock became close friends with Teddy Roosevelt, and later became US Marshal for South Dakota. In a March 17th 1884 article, The Deadwood Pioneer Times reported that the Tornado Consolidated was made up of the Tornado, Silver Fraction, Big Test Fraction, Daisy Fraction, Little Bird, and the Minnie Lode. These mines, about 50 acres, were on the east side of Terry's Peak between the Nevada and Fantail gulches. Extensive developments were reported. Work at the lower levels had found several fissures of high grade ore. A May 1882 article called Andrew Hanson "one of our prospective money kings of Nevada gulch." He appears in numerous 1880s articles about South Dakota mining properties.
