Top-Notch Comics #8 (MLJ, 1940) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white pages. Overstreet speculates that Roy the Super-Boy, whose origin and first appearance are in this issue, may have been only the second costumed boy hero in comics (with Robin being the first). That's Roy in the foreground of this Edd Ashe cover, he's joined by the Wizard, the grown-up superhero who instructs Roy in the art of being a crimefighter. Also making his first appearance here is the Firefly, who gains -- you guessed it -- the proportional strength of an insect. The most notable artist is Mort Meskin, who drew the story starring adventurer Dick Storm. Overstreet 2005 FN 6.0 value = $450; VF 8.0 value = $938. CGC census 5/05: 1 in 7.0, 2 higher.
