Tooled Leather & Split Willow Fishing Creels (2)
For your consideration are two tooled leather and split willow fishing creels from the early to mid 20th century. These creels resemble the style and looks of two major creel makers, W.H. McMonies and George Lawrence Company, but are unmarked. The first and darker colored creel shows a tooled leather & split willow construction. It features a leather shoulder strap for easy carrying. The split willow construction shows a nice, tight weave. The lid is secured by a leather and metal buckle on the front. The lighter colored creel shows an identical style but features the fish hole in the center of the lid rather than the left side. It also features a shoulder strap but since been broken on one side. They show good condition overall with wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. They measure from 7 5/8" L x 16 1/8" W x 10 5/8" H to 8 1/2" L x 16 5/8" W x 10 1/8" H. they have a collective weight of 7 pounds and 4 ounces.
