Gifted player (1945–1990) with the Boston Red Sox until he was hit in the face with a fastball by Jack Hamilton. Tony returned to the lineup a year and a half later, hit another 20 home runs, had 36 the year after, but was forced to retire due to his eyesight being permanently damaged.
