Heavy riveted padlock, marked “T&T RY” on front shackle and marked “Adlake” on the key drop. “1/1” is also marked under the key drop, by the keyhole. “No. 48. LOCK/ PAT.SEPT.24.1912” is marked on the rear body. The chain fob is intact, but missing the original chain. A metal security tag stamped “T. & G. R.R Co. 7211” is attached to the chain fob. The T&T RY markings may be misleading, as it does not appear that a T&T Railway was ever registered. However, the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad was chartered 5 July 1904 and directed by Francis Marion Smith, the “Borax King” [Ref: Poor’s Manual of Railroads, 1915, p. 1645]. The railroad itself was in operation from 1906-1940. The metal tag likely belongs to Tonopah and Goldfield Railroad Company, which operated 1906-1947. - Jacobitz Collection -59566
