1945 Tommy Burns Handwritten Signed Letter. The five-foot seven inch Heavyweight Champion of the World is best remembered today as the man from whom Jack Johnson assumed the crown in 1908. Sadly, he would die destitute in British Columbia in 1955, and would be buried in a pauper's grave. Here he answers an autograph request, kindly responding in part, "…It's a pleasure to give you my autograph and I believe I spell it just as good or write same as good as when I was World's Heavyweight Champion…" All ink, and his closing, "Your friend, Tommy Burns," is rendered in 10/10 blue fountain pen. The page has original mailing folds, and some minor wrinkles, otherwise NRMT. LOA from PSA/DNA.
