Featured in this lot is this Tombstone, Arizona Territory Fire Department nozzle circa 1880's and was displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. In the 1880s, the Tombstone, Arizona Territory Fire Department was a volunteer organization formed in response to the town’s rapid growth and frequent fire hazards. Despite limited equipment, the department played a crucial role in battling major blazes, including the devastating fires of 1881 and 1882, which destroyed large portions of the downtown area. This fire nozzle would have been of the same type of equipment those men would have used to fight the horrendous fires in tombstone in the early 1880's. The nozzle is marked on the neck as follows: 2 1/2 - Wooster Brass. The nozzle comes complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: 1880's iron hose nozzle from Tombstone. The nozzle comes with official museum paperwork that reads as follows: This huge metal, red painted nozzle handles came from the Tombstone Fire Department. It had been stored in the Old City Hall on Fremont Street where the fire department was housed when we moved here in 1991. This hose nozzle has been on display at our museum since we opened in 2001. The condition of this Tombstone Fire Department nozzle is well preserved with some chipping to the red paint present on the nozzle but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this fire nozzle is 15 1/4" x 7 3/4" x 5 3/4". The collective weight of this Fire Department nozzle is 1lb 12oz. F-9
