Tom Wolfe Signed The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
Tom Wolfe Signed The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test inscribed "To Kate, with a deep bow from Tom Wolfe" on verso of half-title page. (New York: Farrar Straus and Giroux, 1968), first edition, white cloth with decorative stamped binding on the spine, 8vo (5.5" x 8.5"), dust jacket (in protective mylar). Along with Hunter S. Thompson, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test established Tom Wolfe as one of the literary-journalistic touchstones of the late-60s LSD-fueled Hippie movement. The story chronicles the madcap adventures of author Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters as they experiment with the effects of LSD and other mind-expanding drugs, all while grooving to the acid rock sounds of the Grateful Dead in their Day-Glo school bus. This copy has slight soiling on the edges. The dust jacket has some minor chipping and folding on the front cover, and some general wear around the edges. Overall, this is a very handsome copy of this seminal 1960s peek into the counterculture.
