Signed book: The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. First edition. NY: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1968. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5.75 x 8.5, 416 pages. Signed and inscribed on the half-title page in blue ballpoint, "For Joe Collins, Tom Wolfe." In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned first edition of Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers, hardcover with dust jacket, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 1970.

Chronicling the eccentric adventures of author Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters during their LSD-laced cross-country road trip in a psychedelic school bus, Wolfe's classic second novel, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, remains one of the most popular and influential publications from the New Journalism movement. The second book is composed of two articles by Wolfe, 'Radical Chic,' about a gathering Leonard Bernstein held for the Black Panther Party, and 'Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers,' about the response of minorities to San Francisco's poverty programs.
