TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Keystone Hotel letterhead, September 14, 1938. Letter to Nat Fleischer, editor of Ring magazine. In part: “I would like to write an article or two for ‘The Ring.’ I want to make a comparison between the older heavies and the modern heavies, and to tell what I believe is necessary to bring back the old-time enthusiasm to the ringside. Having been many years in the ring, I can give some interesting dope.” Scattered light soiling and creasing, and pencil notation to top edge, otherwise fine condition. An interesting letter from Sharkey as he attempts to revitalize his division, not too different from the division’s problems today.
