Tom Horn's Winchester Model 1894, .30-30, S/N 82667. This is the gun that Tom Horn was carrying the night he was arrested for the murder of Willie Nickell, the legendary crime he may or may not have committed. Horn gave the rifle to his good friend, Charles B. Irwin, just days before Horn's execution in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The rifle is well documented by scholars and historians, and has remained in the possession of the Irwin family. Other items from the C.B. Irwin estate are also included in the lot, including the guitar that Irwin purportedly played at Horn's storied hanging. S/N 82667, Winchester Model 1894, .30 WCF, 26" round barrel, special order “button magazine,” three leaf express sight, Lyman front sight, standard crescent butt walnut stock and forearm. With Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter stating this serial number as a rifle, .30 cal, round barrel, 1/2 magazine. CONDITION: All metal parts have been refinished, all markings are still strong, bore is very good with strong rifling, wood is untouched with use dings and 60% original finish. Includes other personal items of C. B. Irwin's, including his guitar, bible, and miscellaneous items kept in a small trunk, with Irwin's personal copy of the book, "A Vindication - Life of Tom Horn by Himself.".
