British actor (1904–1967), elder brother of actor George Sanders, who replaced Basil Rathbone as the ‘radio’ Sherlock Holmes and appeared in the 1942 horror classic Cat People. Conway’s rare yellow AFTRA union P&W benefits card, one page, both sides, 6 x 4, dated November 11, 1957. Pension and Welfare benefit card is filled out, most likely in Conway’s hand, listing his full name “Thomas Charles Sanders,” California address, birthdate, and Social Security number. Signed at the bottom in blue ballpoint with his given and stage names “Thomas C. Sanders, A.K.A. Tom Conway.” He lists “Queenie Leonard” as the recipient of his death benefits and notes their relationship as “none,” interestingly enough, Conway and the British actress would be married one year later. Stamped across the front of the card is “Deceased.” Several office notations, including the address being crossed out, aforementioned stamp, obscuring a portion of his given name signature, perforated bottom edge, and tiny partial punch hole to top edge, otherwise fine condition.
