Tole is French for sheet iron, which originally referred to the heavy-gauge iron trays and metalware items produced and decorated in France during the 18th Century.

Pat has been tole painting for more than three decades. She is a juried member of the National Society of Decorative Painters and a Brazer Guild member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. She was selected as one of the top 200 craftsmen working in traditional forms by Early American Life magazine.
