Width 8 1/8 in.

This carved and painted cedar wood mask is a faithful copy of a well-known example in the collections of the National Museum of the American Indian, inventory #9/8302. (See: Feder, Norman. Two Hundred Years of North American Indian Art. New York: Praeger Publishers, 1971, item 36, p. 48.) It was collected by George Emmons from a shaman at Point Lena, Alaska in 1919. It probably represents "The Woman Who Married a Frog", a well-known Tlingit myth. This mask is attributed to Lelooska (1933-1996).

Important
