Incredibly rare original full 12-page April 17, 1912, edition of the New York Herald, 16.5 x 23, with the triple line headline reading “The Titanic Torn Asunder When She Struck Iceberg Going At 18-Knot Speed,” with one of the lead stories headline’s reading “Only Gallantry Of Officers And Crew Saved The 868 Who Are Aboard The Carpathia." Another reads, "The Titanic Sent Out Warning Of Icebergs One Hour Before The Crash.” Upper portion of the page has photographs of some of the socially prominent women on board the Titanic, including Lady Duff Gordon and Mrs. John Jacob Astor. In very good condition, with expected central horizontal fold uniform light toning, some mild dampstaining, a few light diagonal creases, and small tears and chips to edges.
