cdv-sized image that shows an aged Palouse chief, tentatively identified as Yellow Bird, seated on his horse. He holds a single shot percussion pistol in one hand, his horse with typical trappings of the Plateau region, including a fine martingale.

While not identified, this image is undoubtedly the Palouse chief Yellow Bird (see Trafzer and Schuerman 1987: 29). While this image has been trimmed for insertion into a carte de visite album sleeve, there is no question that it was taken on the same day as Lot 592. The buildings, wagons, and vegetation in the background of both images are identical.
