According to the current owner, the present star tile from the 15th century comes from a madrasa in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). It is executed in cuerda seca technique and has an eight-pointed shape and a pale red body. The cobalt blue background is adorned by a typical braid pattern, which in the star points form stylized flowers. The center shows a rosette with a six-pointed star.



The tile has signs of age, but is intact. There is only minimal blemishes to the glaze and minor chips to the edges. The tile measures 25.5 cm in diameter and has a thickness of 2.5 cm.
