Partly-printed DS, signed “Tim. Pickering jun'r, Justice of the Peace,” one page, 8.25 x 13, August 13, 1776. Deed between Joseph Barnard and John Marsh for a "tract of woodland" in Danvers, Massachusetts. Docketed vertically in the left margin by Pickering, "Essex, August 13, 1776. Then Joseph Barnard personally acknowledged this instrument to be his free deed, Beofre Tim. Pickering jun'r, Justice of the Peace." Also docketed on the reverse by John Pickering as registrar. In very good to fine condition, with minor paper loss along intersecting folds. A desirable early document from just one month after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
