The media artist Tim White-Sobieski became internationally famous for his experimental videos; the auction record for a photograph by Tim White-Sobieski currently sets above 12,000 Euros

In his works Tim White-Sobieski combines abstract and concrete elements, using digital and analog techniques. The present work depicts a distorted picture taken in an airport terminal. The photograph belongs to the series ‘TERMINAL’ (‘Terminal III’ – ‘Terminal Dream’), which seems to allow conclusions to real events in history.



The work is signed and dated with touch-up pen on the photograph lower right ‘Tim White 2003’. It is titled and numbered alike lower left ‘Terminal 1/5’. A copy of a signed artist’s certificate is enclosed. The photograph is laminated on an aluminium board and sealed with acrylic glass. The photograph is in good condition; merely the surface of the acrylic glass shows some faint scratches and remains of glue. The dimensions of the photograph are equal to the overall dimensions of 40.4 x 60.8 cm.



Tim White-Sobieski (b. 1961)

Tim White-Sobieski studied at the New York University and at the Parsons School of Design in New York. White-Sobieski has participated in a number of international exhibitions, for example the Prague Biennale 2003, the Lyon Biennale 2003 and the Bucharest Biennale 2004. Works by the artist are in the possession of the collections such as the Academy of Arts Berlin, the Foundation Louis Vuitton Paris, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Santander, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the New York Public Library Print Collection. The video- and installation artist is of Polish origin and lives and works in New York and Berlin. (cbo)
