This is an extremely RARE Tibetan prayer ritual apron with crown and cuffs from the 18th to 19th century. The apron shows twelve oblong plaques at the top. Each of the bone plaques shows a finely hand carved figure. The oblong plaques are graduated in size with the longest ones toward the center. Below the plaques are a network of smaller bone carvings with important symbols and figures. These smaller pieces are joined by the network of beads. The crown or headpiece is composed of five hand carved bone plaques joined by a series of smaller carved pieces and beads. Each of the cuffs consists of three oblong carved bone plaques joined by a series of beads. Interestingly, the cuffs show only symbols and patterns. Provenance: The Tibetan ritual bone apron, crown and cuffs come from the private collection of Owen David Mort, an American engineer who amassed an impressive collection throughout his worldwide travels. His collection has included art, artifacts and other historical items from which he has donated to the University of Utah and Notre Dame. This is an incredible set that includes the apron, crown or headpiece and two cuffs. This is the only known complete set to be made available on the open market in recent years. A truly unique opportunity to own a RARE piece of Tibetan culture. All four pieces show good condition.
