American actor (1896–1937) who, as a vaudeville impresario, assembled the act that evolved into the Three Stooges. The tumultuous relationship between Healy and his star trio, fueled largely by Healy’s heavy drinking, led to several rifts and reconciliations, until the Stooges struck out on their own for good in 1934. TLS, one page, 8.25 x 11, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corporation letterhead, August 3, 1936. Healy asks professional advice. In full: “The above studio for whom I have worked for three years, has loaned me to the 20th Century-Fox to work in a picture called ‘Sing Baby Sing’. Although borrowing stars from one studio for another is a common occurrence, this is the first time it has happened to me. All studios use different methods in making pictures, so if you get a chance to see ‘Sing Baby Sing’, I would appreciate you writing me to the 20th Century-Fox Studios located at Fox Hills, Cal. letting me know which studio’s methods are more suited to my work.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds and trivial creasing. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
