American actor (1896–1937) who, as a vaudeville impresario, assembled the act that evolved into the Three Stooges. The tumultuous relationship between Healy and his star trio, fueled largely by Healy’s heavy drinking, led to several rifts and reconciliations, until the Stooges struck out on their own for good in 1934. TLS, one page, 5.5 x 3.25, October 30, 1937. Letter to a fan reads, in part: “On November 4th I will be on the air with my new stooges for the first time…Please listen to this program and send me a card or letter stating your reaction as soon after the broadcast as possible.” Scattered light soiling, uniform toning and light cancellation marks near top, otherwise fine condition. The original Stooges (Moe, Larry, and Curly) left Healy for good in 1934, only to be ‘replaced’ by some “new stooges” three years later.
