Three Letters Pertaining to Union Soldier
Three Letters Pertaining to Union Soldier, W.W. Hawkins, New York 93rd Infantry, Company "I". Hawkins, enlisting for three years in September, 1861, survived the war, however his fate was in doubt during 1864. This small group consists of two letters to his father in Argyle, New York, both describing the autumn campaigns of 1862. A third letter written in 1864, to Hawkins in the “Cotton Warehouse Hospital, Fredricksburg, VA”, offers to help get him home. A penciled note is found on its cover from a W. A. Philips to the elder Hawkins in New York. Apparently, no one seemed to know if his son was alive or dead. Overall fine condition. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
