Lot of 3 different. All signed by Seth Bullock as president. This is a rare group! Bullock was the first sheriff of Deadwood and ran a hardware store there with business partner Sol Star. Coming from law enforcement in Montana, he arrived in Deadwood the day before Wild Bill Hickok was shot and killed. Bullock became close friends with Teddy Roosevelt, and later became US Marshal for South Dakota. 1) Arizota Mining Company. No. 13, issued for 20,000 shares to TJ Grier in 1909. Signed by Bullock and the secretary. Pen cancelled. Very rare to see an issued piece for this company! Thomas Johnston Grier was the superintendent of the Homestake Mining Properties from 1884-1914. 2) Tornado Consolidated Gold & Silver Mining & Milling Company. Low No. 23, issued for 1,000 shares to Andrew Hanson in 1887. Signed by Bullock and Ernest May. Ernest May moved to Deadwood in 1876 and mines the Wheeler Claim in Deadwood Gulch. He then opened a mercantile business in Lead, invested in land and mines, served as president of the First National Bank of Lead, was the mayor of Lead, and is credited with the creation of the South Dakota state flag in 1909. Pen cancelled, underprint gold mining vignette. A very rich mine, with a million dollar gold pocket discovered. 3) Ruby Bell Gold & Silver Mining Company. Issued in 1887 for 5,000 shares to Robert Graham. Pen cancelled signatures.
