Lot of 3 different, all self-identified as Amador County. 1) North Star Improvement Company. Sutter Creek, 1887. No 106, issued for 1,000 shares to Fred Werner. Signed by president Voorhies and the secretary. Not cancelled. Black print on yellow paper. Rare. 2) Talisman Gold Mining Company. No. 242, issued for 100 shares in 1877 in San Francisco. Not cancelled. 3) Valparaiso Mining Company. No. 259, issued for 10 shares in 1873. Not cancelled. The Valparaiso Mine was located 4.5 miles south-southeast of Jackson, between Sutter Creek and Mokelumne River in Amador County, which was the most important gold producing county of the California Mother Lode. The Valparaiso produced native gold in rich "pockets" in white quartz fissures in the Mariposa slate formation. The concentrates from which were said to have produced as much as 37 ounces of gold per ton.
