brevet Lt. Colonel Platt M. Thorne, 150th NY ink signed beneath portrait, no back bark. 2nd Lieutenant Edwin G. Fay, 107th NY signed in ink beneath portrait with Moulton & Larkin, Elmira imprint. Major Lansard F. Chapman, 28th PA., name in period pencil beneath portrait with Slagle, Washington, D.C. imprint and Col. Ruger penciled on verso. Thorne served as Captain in the 150th NY during the war and in March 1865 was twice brevetted for "faithful and meritorious" service. He was retained in the Regular Army as lieutenant, 13th Infantry and retired as captain, 22nd Infantry in March 1896. Private Fay joined the 107th NY in July 1862 and mustered out in June 1865 as 2nd lieutenant. Captain Chapman entered the 28th Pennsylvania in command of Company E. and was KIA at Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863.
