<B>Three Black Americana <I>Cartes de Visite.</B></I></B></I> An incredible group depicting African-Americans as follows: <BR><B>Slave Nurse and White Child,</B></I> An attentive black woman of middle years poses here with here young charge. Being Civil War era, this rare image shows the waning days of American slavery. <BR><B>"Rosa, an Emancipated Slave, from New Orleans",</B></I> by Kimball, New York City, 1863. This highly publicized portrait shows a student at one of the new Freedmen's schools established in the occupied South. A light-skinned subject was probably chosen to provoke abolitionist sympathies among Northern fence-sitters of the day. <BR><B>"Native Americans"</B></I> depicts two lithographed ragamuffins - one back and one white - confronting one another. The latter appears to be in a Confederate uniform of sorts. Normal soiling and aging.
