His life was cut short after he contracted pneumonia during a tour of the West. Signed book: From Death to Morning. First edition, later printing. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1935. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5.5 x 7.5, 304 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page in fountain pen, “For Lillian Gurney, Sincerely, Thomas Wolfe, Nov. 18, 1935.” Autographic condition: fine, with toning to the signed page. Book condition: VG/VG- in a VG custom-made quarter leather clamshell box.
