Highly regarded American writer (1900–1938) whose four novels, including Look Homeward, Angel and Of Time and the River, take a place among the high points of twentieth-century fiction. Signed book: Of Time and the River. First edition, later printing. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1935. Hardcover with dustjacket, 6 x 8.5, 912 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page, “For Mr. Buttita, Sincerely, with best wishes, Thomas Wolfe, July 15, 1935.” In very good to fine condition, with cracked and slightly loose front hinge, a bit of trivial toning and soiling to signed page, and some sunning to spine. Dustjacket exhibits scattered light creasing and soiling. Wolfe is rare in any form, particularly in signed first editions.
