Journalist who compiled a chronology of events leading up to the Civil War, comprising 120 volumes. Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by Fredricks of New York, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “Sincerely yours, Thomas S. Townsend.” In very good condition, with dings and tears to left edge, slight irregular adhesion to signature, pencil notation to lower border, and a skinned back.
