Philadelphian carpenter (1739–1806) who served in the Continental Army during the Revolution and saw action at Brandywine and in the Wyoming Campaign; he later commanded a regiment of the Pennsylvania militia in suppressing the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791. ALS signed “Tho: Proctor,” one page, 6.5 x 8.25, May 27, 1796. Letter concerning legal matters. In part: “In consequence of a citation…by the Board of Property against…Heirs of David McKinney Deceased—after a hearing before the Board the defendants acquired a certain time to take depositions of persons in their county.” A much later legal filing document is attached at the upper left. In very good condition, with overall toning and scattered staining.
