Prolific American character actor (1892–1962) who was the first performer to win an Oscar (for his supporting role in Stagecoach), an Emmy, and a Tony. His most familiar roles are probably those of Scarlett O’Hara’s father in Gone With the Wind and Uncle Billy in the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 20th Century Fox promotional photo for The Keys of the Kingdom, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Paul, Thomas Mitchell.” In very good condition, with scattered creasing and surface marks, and some light irregular ink adhesion to portions of signature and inscription.
