Vellum manuscript DS, signed “Tho. Mifflin” and "A. J. Dallas," one page, 15.25 x 12.5, November 16, 1791. As governor of Pennsylvania, Mifflin grants unto Samuel Meredith "a certain tract of Land called 'Oxford,' situate on the waters of Lahawanock Creek in Eugene County." Signed on the left side by Governor Mifflin, and countersigned at the bottom by Alexander J. Dallas as secretary. The large white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains mostly intact, with two missing points. In very good to fine condition, with areas of dampstaining. Mifflin (1744-1800) was a signer of the US Constitution from Pennsylvania and the first governor of that state. Dallas (1759-1817) was a statesman who went on to serve as Secretary of the Treasury under James Madison.
