Highly influential, Nobel Prize–winning German novelist and social critic (1875–1955) who penned such classics as Death in Venice and The Magic Mountain. Vintage glossy 5 x 7 photo of Mann deep in thought, signed on the reverse in fountain pen, “With the best wishes and greetings of Thomas Mann.” In very good condition, with remnants of a removed inscription above signature, resulting in some light toning above sentiment, a couple small pencil notations and spots to reverse, and scattered creases and surface marks to image, as well as some light silvering.
