Partly-printed DS, signed “Th: Jefferson” as president and “James Madison” as secretary of state, one page, 11.5 x 16.5, no date. Unissued ship’s pass allowing for the vessel “to pass with her Company Passengers, Goods and Merchandise without any hindrance, seizure or molestation.” Signed at the conclusion by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Nicely cloth matted and framed with two colorful raised oval portraits of Jefferson and Madison, to an overall size of 26.5 x 27. Trimmed top edge, intersecting folds, one through a single letter of Madison’s signature, uniform overall toning, and a bit of scattered light soiling, otherwise fine condition. The white seal is toned, but intact. A desirable presidential combination! Oversized.
