Thomas Jefferson land grant signed as President, dated 7 June 1808. Here, Jefferson appoints a quarter lot of land in Cincinnati to Joseph Gripe. Reads in part, ''…Having deposited in the Treasury a certificate of the Register of the Land office at Cincinnati where it appears that full payment has been made for the fourth east quarter of lot…of township number five, in range number Four (East of a meridian line drawn from the…great Miami River) of the Lands directed to be sold at Cincinnati…'' The document is signed ''Th. Jefferson'' at conclusion and is also signed by Secretary of State James Madison. Ornate wood frame with complementing maroon fabric mat measures 32'' x 21.5''. Letter, measuring 13.5'' x 8.25'', is in very good condition with wrinkling and folds. Original U.S. seal at lower left corner.
