Thomas J. Watson - Irving Trust Company This 1932 dated certificate for 100 shares of Irving Trust C
Thomas J. Watson - Irving Trust Company This 1932 dated certificate for 100 shares of Irving Trust Company stock was issued to Thomas J. Watson, the industrialist who founded IBM, and is signed by him on the verso. Watson's first jobs would give little clue to support his later success. Leaving the family farm in Elyria, Ohio in the 1890's he held jobs as a traveling organ salesman, a sewing machine salesman and an unwitting peddler of phony building company stocks. In 1899 he went to work for John Patterson's National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Ohio. Watson in time became the company's leading salesman. After leaving National Cash Register Watson acquired a firm called Computer-Tabulating-Recorder Company in Elmira, NY. This would later be transformed into IBM by Watson, a firm that at the time of his death in 1956 had 72,000 employees. To date, Watson signatures are seldom encountered in the marketplace. Punch cancelled, although none of the cancellations affect the Watson signature on the verso. Extremely Fine. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
