Thomas Ince Signed Continuity Script, & Related
Thomas H. Ince Signed Continuity Script and Original Ince Shooting Script. In 1914, film pioneer Thomas Harper Ince paid $50 for a synopsis and continuity script for Roseda, signing on the cover "T H Ince" under the price and his handwritten "O.K." in pencil. The signature, a rare one indeed, maintains Ince's reputation as the very first truly prolific film producer/director. He snapped up this treatment, from writer Avard W. Wells, along with hundreds of others in a flurry to gather as many film ideas around him as possible, for Ince was shooting multiple features at the same time, delegating duties to directors, assistant directors, writers and editors. Also included in this lot is a shooting script written by Ince (with his credits on the cover page) with handwritten notations throughout its 58 pages, opening with Ince's instructions to use an iris lens and "dissolve in" slowly. The documents, some dated July 9, 1914, others undated, are in remarkably good condition considering their age and were brought to Heritage as part of a collection of documents from Triangle Motion Picture Company (Ince's production company formed with D.W. Griffith and Mack Sennett). In Very Good condition with age-toning and corner wear, minor nicks to borders and rusting from clips (none of which affect signature). Stored in their original filing envelope with Ince's credit listed at top. From the Thomas H. Ince Archives.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
