Union general killed in action during the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse (1836–1864). Original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Stevenson in uniform by J. W. Black of Boston, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “Thos. G. Stevenson, Brig. Gen’l U. S. A.” Light scattered foxing to image, a few dings to edges, some irregular adhesion to signature, and the image a shade light, otherwise fine condition.
