Mortgage bond certificate for the Kentucky Mineral and Timber Company in the amount of $1,000, signed at the conclusion by Ryan as the company's secretary. Also signed on the reverse by Brayton Ives as a trustee. The crisp uncanceled bond retains 30 warrant coupons on the adjoining sheet. In fine condition.

Thomas Fortune Ryan (1851–1928) was an American tobacco, insurance, and transportation magnate whose fortune began in public transit with New York streetcars; his most profitable endeavors were in tobacco, merging his Union Tobacco Company into the American Tobacco Company in the 1890s. Brayton Ives (1840–1914) was president of Northern Pacific Railway from 1893 to 1896 and also served two terms as president of the New York Stock Exchange.
